You have:

  • Completion of post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible valuation or property assessment experience
  • Accreditation in good standing with one of the following accrediting organizations:
    o    Appraisal Institute of Canada: Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI™)
    o    International Association of Assessing Officers: Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE)
    o    Institute of Municipal Assessors: Member of the IMA (MIMA)
    o    Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors: Member of RICS (MRICS), Fellow of RICS (FRICS)
  • Strong observation, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Interpret information/data and identify deficiencies
  • Good presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others to adopt new procedures and/or processes in response to review findings
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite of products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as specific statistical tools and programs

 

What you will do: 

  • Identify and research systemic problems and other areas of risk for potential reviews through application of valuation experience, investigation and data mining
  • Investigate issues, determine the cause and recommend corrective action through review reports, which are presented to the Quality Assurance Committee
  • Assess, quantify, and prioritize risk through application of a risk profile framework and communicate rationale and impact of reviews with the business units affected
  • Coordinate responses to enquiries from the provincial Ombudsman and investigate public complaints
  • Support the Canadian Property Assessment Network project by identifying comparative metrics and best practices, and responding to ad-hoc information requests
  • Collaborate with business units affected to determine corrective action, identify responsibility, establish commitment and develop a plan to address and resolve errors or issues
  • Create final review reports to be presented to the Quality Assurance Committee and the MPAC Board
  • Identify appropriate standards for MPAC to evaluate themselves against, obtain agreement from the business and determine how standards will be measured and the frequency
