Job Description:
Join a Leading BC Firm as a Real Estate Appraiser
Unique Assignments | Deep Expertise | Island Lifestyle | Collaborative Culture
Ready to grow your career with a firm that values insight, curiosity, and high standards?
At Jackson & Associates, we don’t just value properties – we value people. If you’re a thoughtful, driven appraiser who’s seeking diverse assignments, expert mentorship, and the opportunity to elevate your career with a respected name in the industry, we want to hear from you.
About Us
Now in our 45th year, Jackson & Associates is a leading real estate valuation and consulting firm based in Courtenay, BC. From waterfront homes to complex expropriation cases, we serve a diverse client base including private homeowners, businesses, governments, First Nations, and national institutions across Vancouver Island and Coastal British Columbia.
We’re a founding member of Verragroup, a national network of top-tier independent appraisal firms. Through this affiliation, we collaborate across provinces on large-scale projects and share best practices and innovation in valuation.
We specialize in the complicated and the unique:
- Rural and estate residential properties
- Commercial, industrial, agricultural, and public assembly properties
- Ecologically sensitive lands
- Depreciation reports and insurance appraisals
We’re leaders in AI-assisted tools, data-driven research, and continuous quality improvement. Our in-house templates, 40+ years of comparable data, and robust peer review systems allow our appraisers to focus on high-value analysis — not repetitive tasks.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a professional, driven Appraiser/Consultant who wants to be part of a collaborative, respected team. This role is well suited to a candidate working towards their AACI designation or an already designated member.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect a wide range of properties: residential, multi-family, commercial, industrial, farmland, and more
- Analyze financial statements, rent rolls, budgets, and pro formas to determine value
- Research and analyze market comparables
- Prepare high-quality appraisal reports for estate planning, financing, insurance, purchase/sale, legal matters, and more
- Collaborate with experienced professionals and contribute to internal quality discussions
- Engage in client relationship management and occasional business development
What Success Looks Like
- By 3 months: You\’re confidently handling appraisal files with team support
- By 6–12 months: You’ve built strong client relationships and independently manage complex assignments
- You’re actively contributing to report improvement, mentoring peers, or exploring efficiencies with technology
What We’re Looking For
- Working towards your AACI designation
- Some experience with residential, commercial, or specialized properties
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word abilities; interest in large datasets and market trends
- Experience with AIC Report Pro or Realwired is helpful but not required
- Experience in utilizing AI tools (Chat GPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc.)
- Professional, organized, and client-focused mindset
- Comfortable working independently, while also thriving in a collaborative office-based team environment (with some remote flexibility)
- A desire for a career, not just a job
Why Work With Us?
- Diverse Assignments: Get exposed to a wide range of property types and valuation challenges
- AI & Innovation: Be part of a firm investing in tools that make your job easier and smarter
- Mentorship & Career Growth: Best in class mentorship and training. Learn from some of the most experienced professionals in BC
- Verragroup Network: Collaborate nationally with other high-level professionals
- Island Lifestyle: Live and work in one of Canada’s most beautiful and livable regions
Compensation
We offer a competitive fee split, commensurate with experience and designation. For candidates still on the path to AACI, we may offer a salaried training period, tuition support for AIC courses, and hands-on mentorship to fast-track your success.
